  1. Electricity and Magnetism By: Victoria

  2. Atom • A atom has 3 main parts that are proton, neutron, and electron. • there is also a nucleus and a electron cloud that circles the nucleus. • Electrons have a negative charge (-) • Protons have a positive charge (+) • Neutrons are neutral

  3. Series circuit • A series circuit has only one way energy can flow so if one bulb is disconnected it means both bulbs are disconnected.

  4. Parallel circuit • A parallel circuit has more than one way for energy to flow so if one bulb is disconnected the other one is not.

  5. Static electricity • Static electricity is when one materials rubs off electrons to another object giving it a electric charge.

  6. Magnet Magnets attract to most metals but do not attract to other objects such as wood, plastic, and other insulators.

  7. Poles • Just like earth there is a north pole and a south pole. • Opposites attract and the same poles repel.

  8. Magnetic Field • The reason why when you are putting a north and a north pole together they repel is because the invisible magnetic fields are working against each other.

  9. Magnets In Are Lives • We use magnets a lot in are lives and don’t even know it! try spotting magnets in your day and you might be surprised.

  10. Electromagnet • Electromagnets are when you use electricity to power a piece of metal into a magnet so you can turn it on and off.

  11. Permanent and Temporary • A permanent magnet is a magnet that you can not turn on and off. • A temporary magnet is a magnet that you can turn on and off.

  12. Summary • I hope you liked my power point and that you learned something.
