Measure Description • Base Case Single speed pool pump • Typically operates 24/7 • Size ranges from 0.5 to 3 HP • Fixed speed of 3,450 rpm Measure Case Variable speed pool pump • Integrated pump, motor, and controller unit • Can be programmed for different speeds at different times • High efficiency motor

Issues and Concerns – Cal TF Comments Abstract Review Comments from the Cal TF • Health specifications • Methodology ensures that variable speed pool pumps meet health code. • Persistence issues • Technician errors will be reduced by using qualified contractors and offering training. • ECM motor retrofit • This is a separate measure to be considered.

Costs are not borne by program. Turnover Requirements • Many pumps not meeting turnover requirement (6 hours/turnover). • Not SCE’s role to enforce code.
