  8. N.A. KPNQ connectivity replacement • 3xSTM-16 complete on EU side, almost done in 60 Hudson • QWEST taking over existing NYC connections previously provided by KPNQ • Have in place an STM-4 between Abilene and DE for emergency backup • UK and SE now use GEANT

  10. DWS (Commodity IP) • KPNQ service replaced by Telia in UK, DE • under test now • “emergency” service provided to ACONET, CESNET and maybe SANET

  11. Y2 Deliverables • D13.2 Y3 Roadmap due 31 July • D9.6 IPv6 tests 31/8 • D9.7 measurement 31/8 • D9.8 capacity management 31/8 • D9.9 LBE 31/8 • NEWReview Panel (E. Valente, D. Vandromme, S.Starzak, V. Maglaris) need outline 2-3 weeks in advance.

  12. Y3 technology roadmap • Network monitoring tools, specification and deployment of intra/inter domain (QoS) monitoring infratsructure. To include SW developments which can be done in co-operation with other initiatives • user to user performance analysis, using real applications (streaming, video-conferencing) • Definition of organisation of a PERT, sample implementation

  13. Y3 technology roadmap cont. • Optical developments, in consultation with other FP5 and FP6 initiatives. Study of components for future GEANt and NREN networks: • 40Gbps • 10GE • G-MPLS • AA architecture: co-ordination with other task forces. Study of implementation issues for GEANt and NRENs. Sample implementations and final recommendation

  14. Y3 technology roadmap cont. • Multicast: history feature for beacon, experimentation with high capacity streams, SSM, per-group monitoring, setting up of a multicast user expertise group (part of PERT ??) • ipv6: migration steps for GEANT/NRENs, dual stack router performance, MIBS • support for other projects (including “L2” support)
