The name comes from the region of the Mazovia, though Mazurian rhythms step out on the various areas of the Poland and in dances about various names, how Polish folk dance, oberek, log. Mazur, taniec ludowy i pieśń taneczna w metrum 3/4 i żywym tempie. Nazwa pochodzi od regionu Mazowsza, choć rytmy mazurskie występują na różnych obszarach Polski oraz w tańcach o różnych nazwach, jak kujawiak, oberek, okrąglak.
