Global Gender Statistics Programme

The Global Gender Statistics Programme aims to improve the capacity of countries to collect, disseminate, and use reliable gender statistics to assess the relative situation of women and men. It focuses on international coordination, promoting methodological developments, capacity-building, and improving data management and dissemination. The programme includes activities such as global forums, integrating a gender perspective into statistics, producing statistics on violence against women, and developing a minimum set of gender indicators.

EDGE Project A 3-year initiative (UNSD and UN Women) Overall objective: Improving the integration of gender issues into the regular production of official statistics for better evidence-based policies Specific objectives: Compiling at the international level selected indicators: Having comparable gender indicators on health, education and employment Undertake methodological work on “emerging issues”: Developing methods/guidelines to collect entrepreneurship and assets ownership data, and piloting them in selected countries
