  4. The Historical Capitulationof Santa Fe (1492) • Columbus was awarded the title of Don (Lord), as well he was inherited with the title of Viceroy (Granada, April 30, 1492). He also was awarded with the title of Admiral in all lands discovered or won at the Oceania sea, noble titles with hereditary and the same range as the Admiral of Castile. • The title of Viceroy and Governor General on all islands and main lands he discovered or gained in these seas, receiving the right to propose to the government triples each. • The tithe (ten percent) of the net proceeds of the goods purchased, won, or bartered found within the limits of the Admiralty, being fifth for the crown. • The trade jurisdiction of lawsuits from trade in the area of Admiralty, as appropriate to that office. • The right to contribute to an eighth of the expedition and part of the profits in the same proportion. Virreinato Colombino According to the capitulation of "Santa Fe" all these territories became part of his viceroyalty: • On his first voyage in 1492 San Salvador (Guanahani), Bahamas, Cuba and La Española (Dominican Republican) • On his second voyage in 1493 the islands by the side of the Atlantic between them Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico and Jamaica. • In his third voyage in 1498 discovered the islands Trinidad, Paria and Margarita, and established in the La Española until 1500, when he was removed from his Viceroyship, accused of mismanagement. Colon was taken prisoner and carried to Spain, there he was tried and regained his freedom later, but lost its prestige, and were suspended its powers or duties in the viceroyalty. • . His fourth voyage was made in 1502, this time he discovered the islands of St. Lucia and Martinique, then toured the Central American coast from the islands of the Bay to the Gulf of Urabá (now Colombia). • Columbus returned to Spain and stays there until his death on May 20, 1506 in the convent of San Francisco de Valladolid.   9. El virreinato afterColón His eldest son Diego Colon and Moniz Perestrello (1476-1526) inherited the rights to his father, including the viceroyalty. However, King Ferdinand, the Catholic, refused at first to transfer all rights of the Admiral Diego and appointed him as governor of La Española in 1508. Diego then filed a lawsuit against the Crown that was settled in 1511 and ruling that rights are recognized him as viceroy, but with limited jurisdiction for those territories which had been officially discovered by his father. El final del Virreinato colombino • In 1526 dies and inherits his son Diego Luis Colon and Toledo rights to the viceroyalty. but as he was a minor, an arbitration where Louis based his rights to the crown and ending the Viceroyalty of India or Columbian viceroyalty. • In 1535 was created the Viceroyalty of New Spain • Luis in 1537 received the title of Duke of Veragua and Lord of a dominion of six hundred twenty-five leagues square, comprising lands of ancient gold Veragua and Castile. He was also graced with the dignity hereditary Marquis of Jamaica and the lordship of this island.
