  10. Communities: Helping Hungry Homes In FY2013, the John Morrell Food Group donated 2.7 million food servings to people in need through the Smithfield Foods Helping Hungry Homes program. In May 2013, we sent nearly 100,000 servings of fresh protein to tornado victims in Moore, Oklahoma.

  11. Communities:Learners to Leaders Saratoga Specialty Foods in Bolingbrook, IL partnered with Junior Achievement of Chicago and the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens and hosted a Financial Awareness event for 180 high school students, with topics including budgeting; identity theft; career paths; college financial aid to better prepare the students for life after high school. Also hosted local students for a Job Shadowing day at the Saratoga facility.

  12. Communities: John Morrell in Sioux Falls has partnered with Southeast Technical College and funded their Learners to Leaders program for the past 5 years and has graduated 137 students from the program.

  13. Charitable Donations Eckrich provided $200,000 to Operation Homefront • Mission = to provide emergency financial aid and other assistance to families of our service members and for Wounded Warriors during their recovery and transition.

  14. Charitable Donations Since 2002, Operation Homefront has met over 400,000 needs for military families, to include active duty, Guard and Reserve from all branches of service. Since its inception, Operation Homefront has provided more than $128 million dollars of support through programs that benefit military families.

  19. The Armour-Eckrich, Junction City, KS facility achieved the highest Sustainability score within Smithfield Foods in 2012

  20. AMI Environmental Achievement Award The Armour-Eckrich, Peru, IN facility won First Prize the Pollution Prevention category of the 2013 AMI Environmental Achievement Awards for their zero landfill status.

  21. Patrick Cudahy accepted into the Wisconsin DNR “Green Tier” program A voluntary program that recognizes and rewards environmental performance that exceeds legal requirements related to health, safety and environment. 

  22. John Morrell, Sioux Falls won the South Dakota Safety Council’s Meritorious Achievement Award for Outstanding Accident Prevention Performance in workplace safety and health.
