Design Changes • Still using suspension bridge idea, but have greatly reinforced the base and have improved arm • Improvements greatly increase strength against deflection • Gone from rack and pinion to moment arm to lift weight, using the servo itself as a counterweight and grabbing the screw on the weight with a hook

  3. Performance • Torque – maximum necessary is 48 oz-in. Motor can put out 54 oz-in • Motor generates sufficient torque to lift fully, but we are encountering too much deflection at present to reach it

  4. Future Improvements • Further improve resistance to deflection • Drop weight of system by removing portions of baseplate • Optimize servo setup • Optimize arm lengths
