The Big Switch is a transformative plan aimed at turning London's buses, taxis, and commercial vans electric by 2020. With air pollution causing around 4,200 premature deaths annually and affecting over 700,000 asthma sufferers, this initiative is crucial for creating a quieter, cleaner, and greener city. By investing in electric vehicles, we can save lives, achieve significant cost savings on fuel, and reduce harmful emissions. Our proposal includes extensive recharging infrastructure and emphasizes the economic viability of this transition, ensuring a sustainable environment for Londoners.

The Big Switch London’s buses, taxis and vans still mostly run on diesel. They shouldn’t. Air pollution from traffic causes huge health problems, and makes London a dirty, noisy city. That needs to change. Our plan shows how all of London’s buses and taxis, and most commercial vans, could run on electricity by 2020. It’s possible.
