Peasant Life • Most people called peasant farmers in the ancient Egypt were involved in farming and labor. • As a farmer - harvested wheat and barley. • As a laborer - built tombs and temples for pharaoh. • Glory of the ancient Egypt and the splendid pharaoh were made by the peasant. • As pay, the peasant received small amount of crops.

  3. Farming Season 1. Flooding Season - June was the flooding season. - Egyptians fixed tolls and made new one. 2. Growing Season - Egyptians planted all the crops. 3. Harvest Season - The last season. - Egyptians mended the canals to prepare the flood.

  4. Irrigation • Weather of Egypt – hot, dry, and no rain fall. • Canals – Carried water from the Nile River to the farm land. • Catch basins – canals connected into small dykes that is opened when farmer need water. • Shaduf – a bucket & a rope. used to irrigate higher land.
