  2. Today’s Topics Good to Know Request to Views Technology: Secure Browser Fall Retake Testing Fall Activities for Winter Testing Wish List WA-AIM Collection of Evidence ELPA21 Customer Service OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  3. Good to Know: Handy Operational Documents: getting students to TIDE from CEDARS SSID Issuance process updated (for CEDARS admins): http://www.k12.wa.us/CEDARS/TrainingMaterials/SSIDUserGuideandPolicy.pdf Data Flow from TIDE to CEDARS (for CEDARS admins and DACs): http://wa.portal.airast.org/wp-content/uploads/TIDE-Student-Records-Pull-Logic-Update.docx Pre-ID Details (for DACs): http://wa.portal.airast.org/wp-content/uploads/ PreIDdetailsSpring2016_LCS.pdf (2015 doc still posted as of 11/16; update for 2016 available at link once posted) OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  4. Good to Know: “Which High Schoolers Need To Retest?” • Identify students needing to meet graduation requirements using CAA/CIA database • 1) Download copy of a graduation database • 2) 3 columns: “Met [subject] Grad Requirement” • These resolve whether the student has met standard in a content area based on the tests available for each graduation requirements year • ‘Met ELA’ resolves Reading, Writing, and ELA • ‘Met Math’ resolves Math, EOC 1, and EOC 2 3) Consult http://www.k12.wa.us/assessment/StateTesting/default.aspx to see which students can use which tests to meet assessment graduation requirements 4) This document may help: http://wa.portal.airast.org/wp-content/uploads/ PreIDdetailsSpring2016_LCS.pdf OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  5. Request to Views • The process for the parent Request to View (RTV) has been delayed. Work has continued over the past several months. • AIR’s process for RTV is electronic. This process does not yet allow the security level OSPI requires. • This year’s RTV process will be paper-based. • Enhancements to the security of the online RTV process will be implemented over the next several months and will be available for the next school year. 6. Secure Browser now supports iOS 8.3 & 8.4 Link to App Store on WCAP Portal at http://wa.portal.airast.org Does NOT require a new Secure App download (so if you already have it installed last spring or this fall, it now works with iOS 8.3 & 8.4) Note that iOS 9.x for iPad is still NOT supported at this time, due to a security issue (students can initiate a voice chat application like FaceTime (in audio only mode) or Skype (in audio only mode) which will continue to function after testing is initiated). Apple has indicated that Secure Testing modes will disable audio chat in an iOS release that is expected before the end of 2015. As soon as it is available, AIR is prepared to immediately support iOS 9.x, and OSPI will work with them to get the word out widely when that happens. OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  7. Secure Browser Reminder Districts that have not already done so will need to update the previous and outdated 2014-15 version of the Secure Browser for Mac and Windows before they can administer 2015-16 assessments. OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  18. Item-by-item reporting • At the individual level • Can lead to false information, especially for fixed form tests • Additional items would be needed for each target (lengthening the tests) • Group reports by item for fixed form tests • Could be useful with adequate n-size • AIR is working with Smarter Balanced to develop OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  19. Current HS Testing Window • 11th grade is the grade of accountability • Students may test after completing 80% of their instructional calendar (last 7 weeks of school) • Designed to minimize the gap between high school test and college placement while still serving as an early indicator of success • However - • The logistics of testing in the 11th grade may be problematic for students in dual enrollment or other forms of advanced instruction, and for students also taking college admissions tests OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

  20. Under Discussion: High School Flexibility • Allow more flexibility within the 11th grade year • And/Or • Allow students to take the test before 11th grade and “bank” scores for accountability No decision until late Nov OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION
