Rationale That adopting a uniform would: • create an identity in our community • increase a sense of pride and belonging among JK-4 students • reduce distractions caused by fashion • maximize the focus on learning • be a beneficial tool to enhance modesty, to improve safety and to foster equality for students in the Early Years.

  4. RESPONSIBILITIES RRVJA School Board will: • Monitor and review the uniform policy • Seek input from the parents by coordinating regular forums to discuss matters related to the uniform policy • Require the School Administration to report to the School Board on the implementation of the Policy

  5. RESPONSIBILITIES The School Principal will: • Work with the instructional staff to implement the policy • Monitor the policy through discussion with instructional staff at least three times per year. • Ensure that the standards of uniform/dress are maintained • Communicate with parents as required

  6. The Staff will: Support the uniform policy Act as role models in wearing appropriate clothing Tactfully inquire as to reasons if student were to wear inappropriate clothing Provide encouragement by speaking positively to families at all times RESPONSIBILITIES

  7. RESPONSIBILITIES The Parents will: • Support the school uniform/dress code Policy by: -purchasing the school uniforms -ensuring their child(ren) come to school wearing appropriate clothing -keeping the uniform clean and in good repair

  8. RESPONSIBILITIES The Students will: wear the school uniform - when attending school -when representing the school -when participating in school organized events as directed by the school administration and staff keep their uniform clean and tidy

UNIFORM FOR GRADES JK – 4 Boys: tops: style—dress shirt, polo, turtle-neck Colours—Royal Blue or White or Navy Blue bottoms: style—dress pants, dress shorts (mid-thigh) flat front or colours—navy blue, khaki, black Girls: tops: style—blouse, polo, turtle-neck Colours—Royal Blue or White or Navy Blue bottoms: style—dress pants, skirt, dress shorts (mid-thigh) colours—navy blue, khaki, black other option: jumper in navy blue or khaki Boys and Girls: Navy Blue, school-crested, fleece sweater or vest or cardigan with/without hoods Socks Appropriate shoes or runners with non-marking soles

  11. Supplier/Purchase Information • Tops (not including dress shirts, blouses, cardigans and jumpers) are to be purchased from Winnipeg Sports Apparel. Prices include taxes and embroidery. • Dress shirts, blouses, cardigans and jumpers can be purchased from any clothing suppliers of your choice in the colors & styles outlined. You will need to order the school’s embroidered logo/crest from Winnipeg Sports Apparel. • Embroidered school logos/crests are available from Winnipeg Sports Apparel for $5.25 each (sewn) when you purchase at least 2 tops. Otherwise each piece will cost $10.25. • Purchases can be made using cash, cheque or e-money transfer. • Uniform bottoms (dress pants, skirts, dress shorts-mid thigh) can be purchased from any clothing suppliers of your choice in the colors & styles outlined). • Bottoms are to be plain (no logos or designs) and be either flat front or pleated.

Ordering Uniform Tops • Billie Cross from Winnipeg Sports Apparel will be at RRVJA on Tuesday, August 6th (between 9 am and 12 noon) and again on Wednesday, August 7th between (5 pm and 8 pm) to personally size your child and take your order. • We highly recommend that you attend with your child in person on August 6th or 7th. If you cannot attend, then you will need to print an online order form from www.rrvja and email it to Winnipeg Sports Apparel. • Cash or cheque will be accepted when you place your order on August 6th or 7th. • If you are purchasing tops from another supplier, you will need to deliver these items to RRVJA on Tuesday, August 13th to be embroidered. (Each item should be individually labelled with your child’s name and in a bag. • Your order will be ready for pickup at RRVJA by the end of August. • Your order will be individually packaged when you arrive to collect them. • Winnipeg Sports Apparel will revisit RRVJA at another time during the school year to take additional orders if you require them. • You may call Billie at Winnipeg Sports Apparel anytime during the year to place additional orders or for questions about your order.

  30. Supplier: Winnipeg Sports Apparel (WSA) Only the Items which are bolded below are available from Winnipeg Sports Apparel. Items not available from the supplier may be purchased from a supplier of your choice in the specified school colors and styles. WSA will embroider the school logo/crest on these items at cost ($5.25) when you purchase a minimum of 2 other available items, otherwise embroidery cost is $10.50 per item. Loss Prevention While RRVJA is not liable for lost or stolen items of clothing…. • RRVJA Staff willeducate/remind students of their responsibility to protect their personal items. • Parents should educate/remind children of their responsibility to care and protect their personal items. • Students should secure their personal items in their assigned lockers • Parents should label/embroider their child’s personal clothing items • Parents should check daily to see if their child brings home items that do not belong to them and promptly return these items to the school. • Immediately report items when they are lost to the school administration and or to your child’s teacher.
