  3. Authority to Fly • No person or man made object is allowed to fly in South Africa unless one gets permission from the government • SA Government / Department of Transport • Appointed CAA • AeCSA appointed by MOU for Administrating the Authority to fly a HG and PG

  4. Free Flying ??? • No “Free Flying” in South Africa • Used to be “Cheap Flying” • Became “User Pay basis” • Like a Toll Road

  5. Trends SAHPA Operations and Procedure Manual is getting replaced by CAA Regulations Called Part 24, 62, 106,… = Law => Criminal Court Cases

  6. Part 24 • Non type certified aircraft • Must be DHV or AFNOR tested • Have to be on the glider classification list • Operate in VFR only

  7. Part 62 • License requirements • License renewals • Ratings • Have a log book
