Understanding Thanksgiving: Traditions, History, and Culinary Delights

Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada, dedicated to giving thanks for the blessings of the harvest and the past year. It has roots in various religious and cultural traditions. In the U.S., it falls on the fourth Thursday of November, while Canada celebrates it on the second Monday of October. The highlight of the celebration is a large meal featuring a roasted turkey, accompanied by dishes that are largely native to the New World, reflecting traditions passed down from early settlers and Native Americans.
