A: KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR ETHIOPIA – EXTRA IMPULSE PARALYMPICS 1: • ACHIEVEMENTS. • - Participation in Athens Paralympic 2004 • - connecting TPC to a wider Paralympic community/partners. • :UK SPORTS- summit on women sport leadership in Africa. • -Talent identification (grassroots) project • :SAD- health Paralympian project for EA countries • :ITF- Silver Fund project- wheelchair tennis.

  4. PLOBLEMS/CHALLENGES • Limited resources • Increased awareness

  5. B - CURRENT SITUATION • -increased number of participants-priority in schools/centres. • Increased number of sports from 4 to 8. • Increased participation from 2 in Athens to 15 at international Level • Increased number of trainers from 10 to 99 (volunteers

  6. C: WOMEN PARTICIPATION • contestants for national leadership increased from one to five- TPC election. • Leadership at national level increased from 0 to 12 • Volunteer trainers from 3 to 33 • International participation from 1 to 7 • Policy – equal opportunities

D- FUTURE PLANS • Concentration on schools and centres for grassroots development • Staging interschool competition (Feb. 2007) • Open zonal and national championship for out of school disabled athletes (Nov. 2006) • Hosting the East African disability games (March 2007) • Participating in All African Games (July 2007)
