  3. Student Support, Health & Wellbeing Vision: to improve the student experience and student retention by delivering an enabling, accessible, responsive and student centred service which positively impacts on the student journey and on student retention overall

Student Support, Health & Wellbeing Purpose: • Facilitate academic potential and achievement • Provide professional, coherent and seamless advice and support • Support students in making life transitions and to manage any difficulties that impact on their ability to study • Remove barriers to achievement by providing student centred advice and support that maximises their learning opportunity • Work with University staff to ensure that students are safe and that their wellbeing is not compromised • Ensure relevant legislation is implemented e.g. safeguarding, data protection and the Equality Act • Support retention by early identification of students who are at risk of under achievement e.g. financial, emotional and disability need

Student Support, Health & Wellbeing Disability Advice Service: • Advice regarding any aspect of CCCU’s service provision for disabled students • Arrange practical support (note-takers, special exam arrangements, accessible teaching rooms) • Advise staff on their responsibilities towards disabled students • Advise students on funding opportunities for academic support in relation to disability • Assist home students with DSA applications (external needs assessment) • Creation of Learning Support Plans (LSP)

Student Support, Health & Wellbeing Mental Health Advice: • Assessment to determine mental health support that can be offered • Crisis intervention & crisis management (management of risk) • Assist home students with DSA applications • Liaison with Departments and creation of Learning Support Plans (LSP) • Allocation & coordination of student mentors
