The renovation of Johnson A Residence Hall at Ball State University is a significant step towards creating vibrant student neighborhoods and fostering academic success. With the addition of 133 new beds, the hall will facilitate a supportive living/learning environment, which has been shown to lead to higher retention rates and grade point averages. This $35.7 million project seeks to modernize facilities and meet the expectations of today’s students and parents. The hall will also incorporate academic-themed housing and living-learning programs to enhance student engagement.

Living Learning Environments for Students • University’s housing and dining constructed in the 1960’s • Parents and students have higher expectations for both housing and dining experiences • During 2001-02 BSU developed a comprehensive plan to improve residential and dining units • The study established a priority plan for renovation and construction of new residential facilities.
