Virus Protection • To install Anti Virus you will have to enter a CD and follow the on screen instructions. The reason you should download an antivirus to your system is because you can protect your computer from hackers, and from slowing down. You can also set schedules once you have downloaded the anti virus on your system,

Benefits Of Anti Virus • You can prevent viruses • You can scan your computer. • Prevents hacker from accessing your files

System Scan • You can schedule a full system scan, now that you have downloaded the anti virus software. This is to remind you on what needs done, or what day you want the anti virus to run: You can do it Daily, Weekly, Monthly.

Step By Step • Go to Start, All programs, Accessories, System tools and then Scheduled Tasks.

Install Services Pack 2 • Enter CD • Follow on Screen Instructions

Clean Up Tools • To keep your PC running smoothly, regular maintenance are crucial. There are various ways to keep your PC running smoothly; one of them is Disk Cleanup Utility and Defrag

Step By Step Disk Clean up When you select this the screen below will appear: In the screen below you can select the drive you want to clean up and then select ok to proceed. This will calculate the amount of free space available on the disk.

Continue.. This will show you the amount of space that can be freed.

Disk Defragmentation • You should run the disk defrag after running disk clean up utility, so all the unnecceries files can be deleted. • Defragment is a process which is done to enhance the performance of your hard disk and recover the lost space. Defragment should be carried out every month

Step By Step Defragment • Go to Start • All programs • Accessories • System tools • Disk Defragmenter

Screen Shots This screen will appear you will then have to select Defrag. The different lines show the different estimate of disk use before the defragmentation. They all are keyed in different ways to show what they mean. Once the defragmentation is completed. This will then appear:

Drive Formatting • You can format a floppy disk by entering the floppy disk and simply going into my computer right clicking format.

Fire Wall • Fire wall: It helps you protect your computer from hackers, viruses and worms.

Step By Step Firewall • I had to Insert a CD • Follow on screen instructions • When the download was completed a finish box appeared. • Once the download is complete the folder will appear on your “all programs”

Create Folders • You open my document you right click and then select “new” and then click folder. A new folder will appear which you can name.

Copy And Delete Files • To copy any file you would have to right click on the folder and select copy. You can copy files or create short cuts. You can then paste the file into the correct location.

Deleting Files • To do this you would have to select the file you want to delete. Right click and select delete. This will then Appear, you would have to select yes

Continue The File will then be deleted from the folder

Back up to CD Compress folder • To do this you have to select the file you would like to Compress and then right click, select send to and then select Zip File (Compress) This will then appear: This is the back up File
