QUICKSTEP High quality, Low cost, Low cycle time Advanced Composite Component Manufacturing Technology Prototype Aircraft wing rib
QUICKSTEP process uses a unique, fluid filled balanced pressure, floating mold technique, combined with vibration through the fluids to produce advanced fibre (carbon/kevlar) and glass reinforced composite components
QUICKSTEP production parts can use thermoset or thermoplastic prepregs, as well as wet resin/dry fibre, to produce superior composite parts.
Parts made with QUICKSTEP have superior performance to autoclave, vacuum and atmospheric curing methods in terms of strength, stiffness and appearance and low void content (less than 2%)
QUICKSTEP achieves this superior performance on larger parts with faster, one hour cycle times at far lower pressures (1 to 4 psi compared with 60 to 200 psi for autoclaves)
QUICKSTEP benefits • does not warp parts or leave residual stresses from rapid cooling • joins parts to form components in one cure process • no size limit • short cycle times • saves labour times and costs • reduced weight and cost molds • lower capital equipment costs
