  2. What a Church Does: If there is to be growth in the church, each believer must be involved in carrying out the privileges of worship, instruction, fellowship and evangelism.

  3. What a Church Does: Four Fundamental Functions • Instruction — the basic building block “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching” (Acts 2:42)

  4. What a Church Does: Four Fundamental Functions • Instruction • Worship — the supreme motive “They were continually devoting themselves…to the breaking of bread and prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe…” (Acts 2:42b-43)

What a Church Does: Four Fundamental Functions • Instruction • Worship • Fellowship — the internal privilege “They were continually devoting themselves…to fellowship… and all those who had believed were together and had all things in common…continuing in one mind in the temple…taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart” (Acts 2:42, 44-46)
