  2. Precast concrete parking garages Multilevel parking garages or car parks are buildings which are specifically intended to park vehicles. The most preferred building system for parking garages is a precast concrete structure made of precast concrete columns, beams, slabs and walls. Precast concrete construction is a technique where reinforced concrete building components are manufactured off-site and thereafter these precast components are transported to the construction site where they are erected by cranes. The precast concrete building components can either be reinforced with normal reinforcing bars or with high tensile prestressed strands. Some of the major advantages of utilizing a precast building system for multilevel parking garages are the super fast construction speed with durable precast components that result in a low maintenance building system which reduces the overall building cost. Additional advantages are the large spans that can be achieved with the prestressed precast slabs and beams and the increased fire resistance of precast concrete elements compared to other building materials. Furthermore beautiful architectural designs can be achieved with different colors and textures in the precast panels. Page 1

  4. Precast concrete columns The precast columns can be placed internally or at the periphery of the car park and they support the spandrel beams and inverted T-beams. Page 3

  5. Precast concrete beams The precast beams are resting on the columns and walls and they are supporting the precast slabs. Inverted T and L shaped beam sections are mostly used in precast parking garages. Page 4

  6. Precast concrete spandrel beams Precast spandrel beams are used at the exterior of the precast parking garage and they support the precast slabs and transfer their loads to the precast columns and precast walls. Page 5

  7. Precast prestressed double tee slabs Double tees are prestressed concrete slabs which are made of two vertical stems connected by a horizontal deck. Page 6

  8. Precast concrete shear walls The precast concrete shear walls are designed to withstand the lateral loads like wind and earthquake forces and they can be made as solid panels or with small openings for ventilation and lighting purpose. Page 7

  9. Precast concrete ramp walls Precast ramp walls are placed parallel the ramps inside the precast parking garage and they are generally designed to be part of the lateral load resisting structure. Page 8

  10. Precast concrete stair and elevator walls These precast walls are placed around the staircase and elevator shaft openings and are can be split in horizontal or vertical direction to create multilevel precast panels. Page 9

  11. Precast concrete solid slabs Precast concrete solid slabs are used to cover the elevator shaft and staircase shaft openings at roof terrace level. Page 10
