Conclusions • cities started to organize independently e.g. accommodation, health care and education solutions (even in the absence of a national response) • in the heated and politicized public debate cities developed • pro-active integration policies • cities provided platforms of communication for volunteers • strong mayoral leadership in migration policy making Research grant: Institutionalization of the European Frame of Integration Policy in the metropolises of Central-Eastern Europe.
