Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA) 40 or under Can only win once Main focus is on AFCEA contributions Emerging Leadership 40 or under Can only win once Must have won DYA award (at least two years ago) For example, if you won DYA for 2017, you can win Emerging Leader for 2019 Main focus is on demonstration of continuous leadership since winning the DYA award Young AFCEAN Awards

Regional DYA Each AFCEA Regional Vice Presidents (RVP) selects one of the nominated DYAs from their Region to receive this award Distinguished Young AFCEAN of the Year The Awards Committee then votes one of these Regional DYAs as the Distinguished Young AFCEAN of the Year Recipient is not notified ahead of ceremony Young AFCEAN Awards

Young AFCEAN Chapter Award Focus is on providing programs and initiatives geared to the needs of Young AFCEANs including professional development Compete with chapters in same size category Chapter President typically nominates their YAC Program for this award Chapter has to have received Model YAC Program recognition to apply Young AFCEAN Awards

  7. Go to www.afcea.org/awards Scroll down to Young AFCEAN awards Click on relevant award name Young AFCEAN Award Nominations

  8. Click on “nominate a candidate” Young AFCEAN Award Nominations

  9. Ensure candidates meet listed criteria Young AFCEAN Award Nominations

  10. Scroll down to nomination form Complete all fields Information received is used to correspond with nominee and nominator Must be accurate! Young AFCEAN Award Nominations

Fill out Justification box on nomination form Prepare in Word first then cut and paste Retain headers (Leadership and Guidance, etc.) Delete questions to maximize number of words allowed Type over “YOUR RESPONSE HERE” in each section Hit Submit Nominationat bottom of page once complete Be prepared - word limit will not be the same as shown in your Word document! Young AFCEAN Award Nominations

  14. Deadline is Sunday, October 20 at midnight EDT Do not leave submissions to the last week! We cannot accept nominations after the deadline Website automatically closes down at midnight EDT If you made an error or excluded relevant information on an existing nomination Before the deadline Redo and resubmit the nomination the last one you submitted will be the one used Up to four days after the deadline Contact Susan or Tyler and we will take care of the error/addition for you We cannot make any changes after this time Young AFCEAN Awards Deadline

  16. Comprised of the Regional Vice Presidents and the Co-Presidents of the Young AFCEAN Advisory Council One to two week voting period in November Winners confirmed on a conference call held mid-November Young AFCEAN Awards Committee

Non-competitive recognition program Prerequisite for submitting for the competitive Young AFCEAN Chapter Award Chapters set goals and submit final achievements Program lasts two years Program based on the AFCEA fiscal year October 1 through September 30 Submitted to and determined by their RVP Applied for via the chapter officer tools Model Young AFCEAN Program

  21. Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals • Log into the Chapter Officer Tools • Click on Model YAC Program • Click on Create 2020 Goals

  22. Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals • Complete chapter position and email • Click on Goal Category dropdown menu and type in Goal #1

  23. Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals • Or Click on “Select from Sample Goals”

  24. Model Young AFCEAN Program Sample Goals • Pick the goal you wish to use and click on “Select Goal” • It will auto-populate in the Goal field • Use as many sample goals as you wish

  25. Model Young AFCEAN Program Setting Goals • A minimum of six goals must be set • At least three categories – to include Membership • A mix of written goals and sample goals are fine • Hit Submit Goals

  27. Model Young AFCEAN Program Final Achievement • Four levels of achievement • Do not have to meet all goals to be granted the recognition • However, if you do not meet or only partially meet a goal be sure to explain why

New last year Can submit for the Chapter Award via the portal at the same time as the Model Program An addition to current option of submitting via www.afcea.org/awards Makes it easier to apply for the Chapter Award Uses chapter performance summary as nomination text Hope more small and medium size chapters will participate Will need to use current method via website if you wish to customize the nomination text Model Young AFCEAN Program YAC Chapter Award submission

  32. Model Young AFCEAN Program YAC Chapter Award submission • The chapter’s performance summary text will automatically be used for the YAC Chapter Award • You will be redirected to a browser that confirms your chapter’s nomination has been received

  33. Model Young AFCEAN Program YAC Chapter Award submission • If you click on “Do Not Submit Award” you will automatically be taken back to the main Model YAC Program screen for your chapter

  34. Model Young AFCEAN Program Approval Process • Goals • Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) approve the Model YAC Program Goals and add their comments • Final Achievement • The following year the RVPs approve or disapprove the Final Achievement online and make additional comments
