  2. Warm-up • Describe the function of the each of the following terms: • Cut, copy, paste, clipboard, find and replace • Do any of these functions have keyboard shortcuts?

  3. Keyboarding practice • Practice typing paragraphs, punctuation and capitalization by typing the practice paragraph. • 5 minutes.

  4. Spell checker • Spell checker is a tool in Word that indicated words that are misspelled. • It will only “catch” words or letter combinations note in the word dictionary • Take a look at this short poem and identify the problems with spell check • Complete the grammar and spell check lesson

Each frays comes posed up on my screenEye trussed too bee a joule.The checker pours o'er every wordTo cheque sum spelling rule. Bee fore wee rote with checkersHour spelling was inn deck line,Butt now when wee dew have a laps,Wee are not maid too wine. And now bee cause my spellingIs checked with such grate flare,There are know faults in awl this peace,Of nun eye am a wear. To rite with care is quite a feetOf witch won should be proud,And wee mussed dew the best wee can,Sew flaws are knot aloud.   6. Researching in Word • Word has several reference materials for your use. • Simply select a word and right click or go to the review menu to locate a dictionary, thesaurus, and internet search for additional information.

  7. Adding Hyperlinks • A hyperlink is a text or graphic that is linked to a specific text. • Select hyperlink text • Go to the insert menu • Under links, choose hyperlink • Add the web address/ document information • It is best to copy and paste the web address directly from the website rather than re-typing.

  8. Document Properties • Document properties are use defined details about a document including content, title, author, and keywords • Protect = read only. Viewers cannot make changes • Encryption w/ password requirement • Restrict type of changes • Check for issues = detect and remove unwanted info, check for accessibility, check for non supported feature
