Material can be bonded with or without additional filler components when heated to a melting point. With enough heat, thermoplastics, for instance, can be permanently joined together through welding.<br><br>Numerous energy sources, such as gas flames, electric arcs, electric resistance, lasers, electron beams, friction, molten metal baths, and ultrasound, can be used to perform welding.
