  5. Faith-Career Integration Blogs • Objectives: • Provide the opportunity to integrate one’s faith and wellness. • Improve these skills: • critical thinking, • synthesis of ideas, • integration of faith and learning, • computing/blogging.

  6. Faith-Career Integration Blogs • Basic Guidelines: • Each entry must have 250-500 words. • Go in depth – to support thoughts, students must use: • At least one Scripture. • At least one reference from anywhere in the textbook. • At least one reference from a discussion in lecture or lab. • At least one implication for future career.

  7. Faith-Career Integration Blogs • FCI Blog #1: And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength (Mark 12.30; NLT).____________________________ By including "strength", the implication is that loving God also involves a physical component. The Greek word used here, ischys, literally means "strength, power, (especially physical) as an endowment" and is used 11 times in the Bible, typically translated as "strength, power, might, ability, & mighty". Discuss the implications of this in relation to your faith life, future career, and in regard to physical wellness.

  8. Faith-Career Integration Blogs • FCI Blog #2: And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him (Romans 12:1; NLT)___________________________ Consider how one offers his/her body as a "living and holy sacrifice". How can this be worship? Keep your answer in context with physical activity, wellness, and your future career.

  9. Faith-Career Integration Blogs • FCI Blog #3: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body (I Corinthians 6:19-20; NLT)___________________________ The direct context of this verse is a command to not have sex with prostitutes. But is there more that can be taken from this verse? Knowing that the Holy Spirit lives in us, how do we honor God with our bodies? Be sure your answer includes relevance to your future career.

  10. Discussion • See handout for examples from students. • Pros and cons of FCI Blogs? • Other verses or topics? • Other questions, comments, or discussion?
