Needs Assessment & F/up Findings • Lack of National Policy & Legislation • Physicians’ reluctance to give up traditional roles • Resistance to Organizational Change & Lack of Buy-in - Due to long standing defined roles. • Nurses’ reported increased work burden with Expanded Role • Need For: • Balancing “stable” & “non stable” patient loads for provider groups • Training - Staff expressed frustration with insufficient preparation • Clarity of Roles & Coordination • Certification, Legal Justification & Proof of Competency for new roles • Performance Enhancement & Staff Retention strategies Nurses expressed need for organizational support to improve work conditions & CE opportunities • Funds, Equipment, Supplies & Infrastructure - E.g. Lack of space & material resources were notable barriers

Recommendations & Discussion Participatory implementation - increase awareness & improve buy in Communication, Team building & Mentoring skills are critical components Nurses require additional clinical training & mentoring for ARV refill and monitoring Doctors will benefit from Task Shifting & Mentoring training Multi-disciplinary training and clearly defined roles are important Certification through institutions or national processes 7. Built-in incentives to enhance performance & retention 8. Continued Government & stakeholder engagement to develop approaches to raise funds for material & infrastructural support
