  2. Committee’s ChargeWhy are we here? • By September 2011, a recommendation will go forward to the Board of Education specifying desired technology for the AASD including detail as to how and why it will improve the learning experience and engage today's learners.

  3. What Were Our Guiding Questions? • What do we know about the nature of change, specifically in regards to technology? • What do we know about change in student brain physiology and why is this important to the learning process? • What do we know about schools that support student learning needs of today using technology, and what technology are they using?

  4. What did we discover ? • Change in technology is rapid • Consider the use, then the device • Students brains have evolved and are “wired” to be more interactive. • “they expect to interact with the screen” • Research illustrates matching resources to student learning improves engagement, empowerment and ultimately, achievement.

  5. Activity 1 – Forming mixed groups • High school students • Middle school students • High school teachers • Middle school teachers • Elementary teachers • High school administrators • Middle school administrators • Elementary administrators • District administrators • Parents • School board members 6:15

  6. Activity 1 • Form 4 mixed groups (completed) • For 15 minutes you will visit posted desired technology suggestions • Use Red Marker • Identify common themes and patterns. • Add if you see content missing • Pose questions that arise 6:15 – 6:40

  7. Gallery Walk: • Examine charts in a round robin • Add if anything missing • 3 minutes per chart • Music cue will move the groups 6:40 – 6:55

  8. Activity 2 • Form 4 leveled groups. • For 15 minutes you will visit posted desired technology suggestions • Review listed desired technology themes and patterns. • Use Blue Marker • Add if you see content missing. • Discuss rationale for or against the listed technologies. 6:55 – 7:20

  9. Report out – 5 minutes per level • K-3 • 4-6 • 7-8 • 9-12 7:20 – 7:45

  10. What is next? 7:45 – 8:00 • Foreshadow • Costing out process • Reconvene in early fall • Written feedback request • Strengths, areas of concerns, questions 7:45 – 8:00
