  3. EstWin • EstWin - BB development project (founded 11 Aug 2009) • Goals (2009): • Fiber optical cables: 6.000km • ”End Locations” sites: 1400 • Distance end-location to end user <1,5km • Rural and underserved areas only • Coverage to 98% of territory of Estonia

  4. EstWin current status (as of 08.Aug. 2012, latest stand) EstWin- network current status • 1360 km fibre optical (dark fibre) network • 37 objects • EstWin- standstill (no financing, no activities) since Nov. 2012 • New EU funds will be available on 2015

  6. Availability of fast internet • 55% of population (ca 650 000) has no access to fast internet (speeds above 40Mbit/s) at their homes • No access (full market constraint) to Internet speeds above 40Mbit/s • More than 70 local communities • 92 000 inhabitants

PRAXIS research for ELASA • Plans for EstWin 2 • Vision of experts for year 2017: all homes (100%) should have a access to NGA which enables connection speeds 100Mbit/s and above. • However, households should be connected to fixed network - 4G will be not the ultimate alternative • 2 MNOs confirmed, that 4G will have 100% of territorial coverage on 2017 at latest. • Cable operators – does not foresee network expansion into rural area

  9. EMT 4G uptake • As of Aug 2013 • (95% of territory) • NB! >92dBm! • EMT: Allowing speeds up to 150Mbit/s! • However, EMT average 42Mbit/s (TJA), max 101,3 Mbit/s
