  5. MAERS 2.0 This system has to meet the needs of many constituents, including: USDOE, WDA, Adult Education and Local Programs. Given this, many compromises on features were required to meet the critical needs of all. Unfortunately, no one system can meet every need of every constituent member and thus is the essence of compromise. 5

  6. MAERS 2.0 • Time, the critical factor today: • We need to focus on System Questions only. • Please use the Question Cards provided and turn them in at breaks/lunch/end of the day. • We will defer specific program questions to the Adult Education Staff • Time allowing, the Adult Education Staff will address these program questions 6

  7. MAERS 2.0 • Specific program questions typically start with… • “I have this student…” • “At my agency…” • “In our program we…” 7

  13. Major Changes Single Registration In MAERS 1.0 – We have one or more Programs of Enrollment Each Enrollment required the repeat of Name, Address and demographic data Each Enrollment tracked a separate services—ABE, ESL, GED, HSD, etc. In 2.0, a single registration can enroll a Participant into one or more classes. 13

  14. Major Changes The Single Registration-- Eliminates duplicate address, demographic and other data collection by having only one Registration for the program year. Tracks Instructional Areas (formerly Programs of Enrollment) back to the Single Registration Tracks services (Classes) back to the single registration It will reduce duplicates in the system because a new enrollment is not required for another service—i.e. an ABE enrollment followed by a GED enrollment 14
