To eliminate or significantly reduce costs associated with: • Multiple/Re-Testing/Assessments • Delays in accessing regulated markets (TIME TO MARKET) Sole aim“The facilitation of International Trade in Ex Products, Systems and Services”, while applying the detailed requirements of IEC/TC 31 standards and owning the confidence of authorities in this deeply regulated field of products and services. IECEx Vision:“To be the Global Centre of Excellence in the Ex field”

Status 2005 • 426 certificates have been published, more in draft mode ready • Why owning a certificate which is not directly accepted by the national authorities??- the product with IECEx certificate shows compliance with the strongest certification regime type 5 (ISO Guide 67) and the most recognized standards available (IEC/TC 31)- … and this is simply a new precondition for many marketing departments of the manufacturers- … and it is the basis for further national certification by submitting the ExTR and ExQAR

Hot spots 2005 and future • Ensure power of our Fast Track Procedure to achieve National Approvals concerning- extension of review- extension of documentation- time to get the approval (TIME TO MARKET) • Intensive communication with regulators to introduce IECEx in governmental regulations- EU is exploring how the benefits of IECEx can be used by ExNBs (forms, ODs) in the light of the CLC/IEC Parallel Voting (IEC = EN) • Introduction of the IECEx 03 certification program in terms of- Assessment of ExCBs for the IECEx 03- get first experience with practical certification of service facilities • Preparations to be undertaken to introduce an IECEx mark, supported by IEC, to improve legal framework in the market and to make us fit for negotiations with regulators (market surveillance, review and interaction options with regulators)
