Local authorities are the local public service with the widest influence over life circumstances
Including the factors that need to be addressed to reduce health inequalities
Give every child the best start in life • A high quality education for every child & young person in a safe & supportive environment • More vulnerable & disadvantaged residents are able to live Independently & as they choose Enable people to maximise capabilities and have control Fair employment and good work • A strong local economy Health Standard of Living • More, better quality homes Healthy & sustainable places & communities • Communities feel secure • Crime reduces • A sustainable environment NHS Led Ill health prevention
Equalities and Engagement • We aim to reduce inequality through everything we do. All policies and practices that are new or are changing significantly must undergo an EIA to identify needs that are not being met • Effective action to improve health must also fully engage communities, and local authorities are the public service that does community involvement best
