  2. ETSU Veteran's Office Mission Statement It is our goal and honor to assist Veterans as they utilize their G.I. Bill benefits to pursue educational success at East Tennessee State University.  Our staff is well aware of the difficulties that can be associated with transitioning from combat to the classroom.  We hope to make that transition as smooth and convenient as possible.  On behalf of this University and a grateful Nation we thank you for your service and welcome you to ETSU.

  11. GI Bill Options Chapter 30Montgomery GI Bill The MGIB program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. Under Chapter 30, Active Duty members enroll and pay $100 per month for 12 months; and are then entitled to receive a monthly education benefit once they have completed a minimum service obligation Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty.

  12. GI Bill Options Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation Assists Veterans with service-connected disabilitiesto prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs. For Veterans with service-connected disabilities so severe that they cannot immediately consider work, Vet Success offers services to improve their ability to live as independently as possible.

  13. GI Bill Options Chapter 32Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) To qualify, you must meet the following requirements: Entered service for the first time between January 1, 1977, and June 30, 1985 Opened a contribution account before April 1, 1987

  14. GI Bill Options Chapter 33Post 911 GI Bill The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001 You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

  15. GI Bill Options Chapter 35Survivors & Dependents Assistance (DEA) Provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training.

  16. GI Bill Options Chapter 1606Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) The MGIB-SR program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. Eligibility for this program is determined by the Selected Reserve components. VA makes the payments for this program. You may be entitled to receive up to 36 months of education benefits.

GI Bill Options Chapter 1607Reserve Educational Assistance (REAP) Provides educational assistance to members of the Reserve components called or ordered to active duty in response to a war or national emergency This program makes certain reservists who were activated for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001 either eligible for education benefits or eligible for increased benefits.
