  2. To start a slide show on a particular slide: Open your presentation if it is not already open In the Outline pane click a slide eg. slide 3 Click the Slide Show icon The slide show will start at the selected slide Starting a show on any slide and

Navigating around a presentation • In Slide Show mode, right click the mouse • Next will take you to the next slide • Previous will take you to the previous slide • Go to slide reveals another menu in which to select any slide in the presentation • You can also use the Space bar to go to the next slide, or the Backspace key to go back a slide

Hiding slides • You may not want to show one of the slides in your presentation • Click a slide in the Outline pane while in Normal View • Select Slide Show then Hide Slide • The Outline pane will display the Hidden Slide icon behind the slide number • To unhide the slide from the show, select Slide Show then Hide Slide

  5. Using the Notes pages • You can make additional notes about each slide to prompt you. these notes are visible only by you, not your audience, when you print them out or view them on-screen • Select the slide on which you want to add a note • Below the slide is the Notes pane. Click and drag to enlarge the pane if necessary • Type in the note

Viewing your notes during a presentation • You can either view the notes on-screen if you get stuck for words in your show or you can print out the Notes Pages • To view the notes on-screen, right click the mouse while in Slide Show mode and select Screen then Speaker Notes • Click Close to exit the Speaker Notes window

  7. Select File then PageSetup Change orientation by clicking Portrait or Landscape Click the down-arrow of Slides sized for: to change the output format The options you may be asked about for ECDL are On-screen show, Overhead and 35mm Slides Slide Setup

  8. Select File then Print The Print window will appear There are quite a few different options in this window The next two slides will explain how to print various outputs for ECDL, and which options to choose for each Printing

To print just the slides, make sure Slides is selected under the Print What: section You can change which slides to print under Print Range section Set the number of copies in the Copies section Preview the slide printouts by clicking the Preview icon In this screen you can also preview Handouts, NotesPages and OutlineView, by selecting the different options under the PrintWhat: list a the top of the screen Close Print Preview by clicking Printing slides

To print Handouts: Select File then Print In the Print What section select Handouts Specify how many slides to print on a page and whether they should be Horizontal or Vertical Click the Preview button to check the layout To print Notes pages: Select Notes pages in the Print What section of the Print window Printing Handouts and Notes pages

  11. Copying slides to a new presentation • You can copy slides between presentations. • In Slide Sorter View select the slide to be copied. If more than one slide is to be copied, hold down the Ctrl key whilst clicking the slides • Select Edit then Copy • Either start a new presentation or open an existing one • Select Edit then Paste • The copied slides will assume the formatting of the new presentation • To keep the original formatting, click the Paste Options button under the pasted slide • Select Keep Source Formatting

  12. You have a choice of many file formats other than the normal .ppt format Select File then Save As Click the down-arrow of the Save as type box. A large selection of file types are available Save as Design Template if you want to use the slide format for future presentations Save as Web Page if you want to post the presentation to a web site Save as PowerPoint 95, 97 – 2003 & 95 to re-open in different versions of PowerPoint Saving in Rich Text Format loses all graphics Saving in different file formats
