  2. Srushti Paryavaran Mandal ... an introduction

  3. Srushti Paryavaran Mandal • Incepted in Nov, 2005, Srushti has grown from a modest 11 member organisation to a strong 90 member front today. • Activities include wildlife conservation, habitat conservation, water management and issues pertaining to nature and environment. • To control pollution in cities, based on public awareness with their active participation. Safeguard our future and to achieve sustainable development.

  4. Our Activities • The top most threat to Indian forests in recent past is deforestation i.e. conversion of forest land for non forest activity purpose. (e.g. mining, dams, industry) • Adopted Bor WLS for over all conservation through water & landscape management and socio-economic development of nearby areas. • Reforestation drives with the help of schools from forest fringes. Control grazing, save traditional migratory corridors etc.

  5. Our Activities • Regular patrolling drives to check and curb illegal activities in Protected areas. • Initiate contacts and imbibe environmental friendly practices in villages. • Construction of under/over ground mud dams to check soil erosion and revive water table

  6. Our Activities • Patrolling of areas with tiger presence outside PA and assisting habitat development in those areas. • Revival of natural water holes in & around protected area, to avoid agricultural losses and minimise man-animal conflicts.

  7. Our Struggle • Srushti has been instrumental in taking a cognizance of Forest land diversion and habitat destruction. One instance being that we took a lead role to voice against a coal block being allotted near a tiger reserve.

  8. Our Struggle • Thoughtless infrastructural development in India has destroyed the traditional migratory corridors of animals. We have initiated a small study to understand and find a via solution to this problem. Because we believe that “forest saved is forest earned.” Fig 1 : Study to expand Sanctuary area around Bor Wildlife Sanctuary

  9. Srushti at Bor WLS • Activities include series of underground bunds, earthen dams, construction of waterholes(bowls). • Responsibility and arrangements to fill up waterholes using vehicle during 4 dry months of summer.

  10. Srushti at Bor WLS • Health camps, guide induction and training programs in surrounding villages to improve socio-economic development and provide better job opportunities • Regular participation in patrolling and fire fighting activities with the forest department

  11. Srushti at Nagpur • Activities included collection of Nirmalya from various Ganesh Mandals during Ganesh utsav and converting it into organic manure. • Implementing conservation techniques to revive trees and green cover within the city limits.

  12. Srushti at Nagpur • Activities also include animal rescue in city. • Srushti members have been volunteering at the local zoo, helping take care of animals there. • Rescues range from reptile, birds and animals.

  13. Srushti at Nagpur • Organising quarterly cycle rallies highlighting different environmental themes and promoting use of cycle in daily life. • Active participation in organising events during the Wildlife Week.

  14. Current @ Srushti Currently Srushti is undertaking a project of Rewilding 3 tigers cubs found near Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. With a significant rise in occurrences of abandoned or orphaned cubs around this region, we at Srushti feel that conservation in real sense is when we are able to release such animals back into their natural habitat. Three 2 month old cubsfound near Junona Village ! Three more juvenilefound near Ganeshpipri Village Two Cubsfound at Mendhki Village

  15. Appeal @ Srushti We believe conservation has become need of the hour and people must come together to shoulder this responsibility. Srushti seeks your support and active participation in all its endeavors. We invite everyone to join hands and together help ensure survival of our forests and wildlife.

  16. Thank you PARYAVARAN MANDAL
