  2. Objectives know: • the theories and principles of information systems strategic planning; • trends in the evolution of methods for conducting information systems strategic planning; • the main techniques commonly used in the preparation of information systems strategic plans

  3. Objectives understand: • the corporate context for information systems strategic planning and its implications for the way in which planning is carried out; • the strengths and weaknesses of IS planning theory and the way in which it is applied to real-life organizational practices;

  4. Objectives be able to: • critically analyze the suitability of the process and techniques being used in the development of an IS strategic plan have developed attitudes which enable them to: • recognize the need for flexibility in adapting information systems strategic planning approaches to suit the prevailing organizational circumstances and business requirements; • recognize the strengths and weaknesses of current practices in information systems strategic planning; • participate as part of an IS strategic planning team

  12. Journal Article Review • Identify a journal article • Read & analyze • Prepare a 2 page summary • Submit within 2 weeks • 5 Minute summary of article 5% of Course Grade

  13. Case Study • You will be assigned a case. • You will need to analyze, write-up and turn in an executive summary regarding specific issues on the case. • Report is to be written from the point of view of an IS consultant. 5% of Course Grade

  14. Group Research Project • Self-select into groups (5 students each) • Complete a strategic analysis of a company • Develop an IS/IT strategy for that company • Prepare typed/tabbed report • Turn-in paper March 27, 2008 35% of Course Grade
