  1. Ch. 6-10 recap Ch. 6 Stradlater vs. Caulfield. The fight over Jane Gallagher… Ch. 7 Holden seeks out Ackley. Bloody and depressed…Resolves on leaving Pencey that night to lay low for a few days in a hotel in NYC Ch. 8 Train ride to Penn Sta. Ernest Morrow’s mom…Holden become “Rudolf Schmidt” and tells a pack of lies about how great of a kid her son is, his “tumor” that accounts for coming home before the other Pencey kids.

  2. Ch. 6-10 recap Ch. 9 Arrival Penn Sta. Holden thinks about calling Sally Hayes, Jane Gallagher, Phoebe, Carl Luce, but instead cabs it to the Edmont Hotel. He sees plenty of “crumby” stuff going on, including a transvestite and a couple running around spitting liquid of some sort on their faces. He reveals he “really doesn’t understand sex too hot.” Still not in the mood to call Jane G., he is “horny” and tries to make a date with stripper Faith Cavendish. Ch. 10 It is still very, very late Saturday or very early Sunday, depending on your POV. Holden introduces us to Phoebe with a long description. The rest of the chapter is devoted to Holden’s attempts to socialize with the three insurance office gals from Seattle, whom he finds ignorant and the very opposite of cosmopolitan.
