  20. The God who Judges Introduction: Last week we’ve learned that God is the God of forgiveness. He completely forgives all our sin, and He continuously forgive our sin when we confess to Him. Yet, His forgiveness compelled us to live for Him to forgive others as He has forgiven us. This week, we want to see other side of the pendulum, The God of Creation will bring judgment to his creation when they rebel against his will. Because of the holiness of God it demands judgment for sin. God’s judgment in the past, in the present and in the future serve as a lesson, warning, and an encouragement to live a life that is worthy of His calling..

  21. The God who Judges A. God’s Judgment in the PAST 1. God’s major Judgment prior Exodus are after the Fall (Gen. 3), The Flood (Gen. 6), Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 18:20), and the Confusion of tongues (Gen. 11:1-9) 2. When God made covenant with Noah, Abraham and his sons, God pledge blessing on obedience and judgment on disobedience (Deut. 27:1-26; 28:1-68) 3. The history of Israel starting from Exodus, is record of judgment on enemies of God’s people and God’s people when they rebel against God’s will and word. 4. The judgment of God’s people is not to destroy them but to purify them..

  22. The God who Judges B. God’s Judgment in the PRESENT 1.Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life (Gal. 6:7-8) 2. When God forgive…We need to sin no more (John 8:11) or there will be severe consequences to sins to our sin. When Jesus withdraw after healing a man with 38 years infirmity at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-13), later Jesus found him in the temple and said to him,“Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you.”(John 5:14) 3. "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, says the Lord." And again, "The Lord shall judge His people.” (Heb. 10:30) In this context it deals with apostasy, one of the most serious of all sins, because it is the most deliberate and willful form of unbelief. The sin of rejecting known truth. 4. Holy Spirit reinforces truth about sin, righteousness, and Judgment to believer and unbeliever. John 16:8 And when that One comes, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.

  23. The God who Judges C. God’s Judgment in the FUTURE 1. The last judgment of God on human being at the end of time, (Daniel 12:1-3) The righteous will be resurrected during second coming. The wicked will be after millennium (Rev. 20:5) 2. Although unbelievers think they are free to do as they please, they are greatly mistaken. There are consequences to what they do. One day they will stand defenseless before God and give an account of all of their wickedness. (Eccl. 11:9; 12:14; 1 Pet. 4:5; Rev. 20:10-15) 3. The things hidden in the darkness and motives of men’s hearts (1 Cor. 4:5) Every actions (Eccl. 11:9) Every idle word (Matt. 12:36) 4. Judgment does not always imply condemnation in Scripture. When used in relation to Christians, it consistently refers to the evaluation of a believer’s works for the purpose of reward (1 Cor. 3:10-15).“For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if itbegins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God (1 Peter 4:17)

  24. Application of principle to practice: 1. When God judge he judge righteously (John 5:30; Rom. 2:2) 2. So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God (Rom. 14:12)on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus (Rom. 2:16) 3. The New Testament teaches us not to judge (Matt. 7:1), for God is the ultimate Judge and the One who will take vengeance on those who practice evil (Rom. 12:9; Heb. 10:30). Yet the Scriptures also exhort the church to exercise judgment over its members (1 Cor. 6:2-5). This type of judgment is corporate discipline exercised in accordance with biblical truths and the pattern in (Matt. 18:15-20) We are not to engage in fault-finding 4. God is our savior and a judge. He is our Savior if we receive Him, He will be our judge when we reject him. Do not be deceived, we must learned from the past, God’s judgment in the past should serve as lessons and warning to live life with Eternal God in view. When God said, we reap what we sow, there are consequences to what you do, and God will will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil (Eccl. 12:14)
