Bridgetown Revitalization Project: Transforming the Connected City with Wi-Fi Access

In 2011, Bridgetown embraced the future with ubiquitous Wi-Fi access. The project, led by BCCI, BTI, and GOB, included improved security, enhanced lighting, landscaping, and more to revitalize the city. With a public-private partnership, a low-cost Wi-Fi zone with 100 access points was created, covering Bridgetown from north to south. The challenge of upgrading the capital city and providing affordable broadband access was met with a wireless broadband solution. Stakeholders monitored user engagement, bandwidth utilization, peak times, and service quality to ensure success. The project not only increased commerce and helped make Bridgetown a 24/7 city but also aligned with ICT development goals. This initiative, in collaboration with BCCI, BTI, GOB, and LIME, illuminated Bridgetown as a connected and historic center for all to enjoy.
