  1. Graduate Program – RA & TA Stipends • Increase in CY stipends – Fall 2002 • $35,000 from Grad School (one time) Department of Physics

Graduate Program – Summer Support • Only 10 summer TA slots • Previously only US students were guaranteed Summer • Fall 2002 - all offers include Summer Support • Need RA’s for 1st & 2nd year TA’s • Summer 2002 • Pilot program • Summer Stipend overhead free • Summer 2003 ? Department of Physics

  6. Qualifier Exam Aug. 2001 • Committee • Brill, Hadley, Dorfman, Wallace, Yakovenko • 27 taking Exam for 1st time • 15 passed both parts (2 orals) 55.6% • 8 passed one Part 29.6% • 4 failed 14.8% • Success rate • 23 had some success 85.2% • 4 had no success 14.8% Department of Physics

Qualifier Exam Aug. 2001 • 3 – taking Exam for 2nd time • 3 passed • 1 - taking Exam for 3rd time • 1 passed (appeal oral) • Entire group of 31 • 19 passed completely 61.3% • 8 passed one part 25.8% • 4 failed 12.9% • Overall Success Rate • 27 had some success 87.1% • 4 had no success 12.9% Department of Physics
