UAB's Comprehensive Recycling Program: A Commitment to Sustainability

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) actively promotes environmental sustainability through its robust recycling program, aiming to divert materials from local landfills. Each year, approximately 2,231,640 pounds of recyclable materials are collected, demonstrating UAB's commitment to green initiatives. By optimizing the separation of recyclables, both through its waste handling contractor and internal processes, UAB ensures that 17.4% of waste is recycled effectively. This initiative reflects UAB’s dedication to fostering a cleaner and more sustainable campus environment.
