  2. FY05 Plans: Currently $12.2M, goal 10% success rate, including FY04 awards and FY05 CAREER, reduce continuing commitments to 50%; split IDM into 2 parts FY06 Plans: More funding for both IDM parts, increase success rate to 15% or more

IDM: Divide and Conquer • Data Management • Database Management (database design, querying, performance, process management) • Wireless, Sensors and Streams Information Management • Web Data Management (XML, Web services, ...) • Information, Knowledge Management • Data Mining (knowledge discovery, methodology, performance) • Information Retrieval/Web (text, ontologies, search engines, collaborative searching, summarization, integration, portals, ...) • Multimedia, Multi-dimensional, Spatio-temporal/GIS Information Management • Deadline for all IIS programs/areas/clusters: April 2005 • Except: • December 2004: Science & Engineering Informatics and Information Integration • Universal Access • TBA: Advanced Learning Technologies

  4. Currently, Maria will handle both IDM parts: 140+ active awards, 32 pending awards, 52 CAREER proposals, 23 pending supplements New proposals (hopefully only one half!!!) Plus: Active awards ITR, DAS, Cyber Trust awards (140+ awards) New proposals: Cyber Trust initiative Also: NSF-wide activities: Human & Social Dynamics Data Mining Sensors Data-Driven Dynamic Application Systems ....

  5. Science of Design FY04: 160 proposals IIS: 40 proposals, only 12 IDM, Maria handles them Hope to have 10% success rate FY05: deadline in March – April IIS proposals: Ephraim Glinert SEND PROPOSALS!!!

  6. This workshop and beyond -- Ideas for the new IDM parts -- Ideas for new research directions for IDM and beyond -- Ideas on collaboration between IDM parts? CAREER proposals: span the two halves!!! -- Ideas on IDM, IIS, CISE Web site(s) and communication with existing and potential PIs -- Try to sell your results to get more $$$ for your research: CD at the registration desk: Getting Your Story Out -- HAVE FUN!!!
