  2. Developing class norms… What do we need in terms of our own behavior to ensure that everyone feels it is an intellectually and physically safe environment in which to learn? How do we demonstrate respect toward our peers in this setting?

  3. Classbuilder:Similarities and Differences • Number off in pairs – interview each other (10 minutes) • Do a ven diagram that shows differences and similarities you found (at least three of each) using the questions as a guide. • Pairs get together with another pair and see how many similarities they can find among the group.

  4. Interview Questions • Of what achievement-to-date are you most proud? • What is your favorite holiday? • What languages do you speak? • Have you lived in other states or countries? Where? • What’s one of the most memorable events in your life? • What is your most comfortable way to communicate? • What calms you down? • What stresses you out?

  5. Use course concepts to analyze needs of, and identify steps to support a student with behavior issues. Use course concepts to analyze your own teaching. Use course concepts to analyze and evaluate current behavior management programs/theories. Learning Goals

  7. Course Assignments • Individual student case study • Midterm- analysis of whole class teaching • Three written responses to Learning to Trust • Group project: behavior management book analysis • Class participation/quickwrites

What will help you succeed… • Do the readings and assignments on time and thoughtfully • Think about applications of what you read for your own classroom; and test them out. • Participate actively in class: • On-time and consistent attendance at seminar • Come prepared to share with your group
