The ORE Graduate Program focuses on training top-quality engineers to address critical needs in Hawaii, the nation, and the engineering sector. Our mission includes conducting impactful research and providing essential services to the State of Hawaii and the Pacific Basin through seminars, conferences, and collaborations with government agencies. Options include Coastal, Offshore, and Resource disciplines within MS and PhD studies, featuring comprehensive coursework and rigorous examination requirements. Graduates have secured prestigious roles in leading firms and institutions within the field.

ORE MS Program Requirements • Pre-program classes if necessary • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or General Exam in 1st semester • Core classes • Option and elective classes • Plan A thesis, Plan B report and oral final exam
ORE PhD Program Requirements • Pre-program classes • Core classes • Qualifying Exam (4 hr, covers core) • Comprehensive Exam (defend research proposal) • Dissertation defense • Expect several peer-reviewed publications
