Self Awareness: A Key to an Effective Walk Message Thesis: The key to an effective life is becoming aware of one’s own personality, thought patterns, perceptions, strengths, weaknesses and behaviors. Message Objective: The objective of this message is for us to use the mirror of God’s word as our reflection.

  3. Self-Awareness defined… Self-awareness is a term used to describe a person's capacity to notice the self. "Awareness" is the ability to notice other things coupled with "self." “The easiest person to deceive is yourself.”

  4. Self-Awareness defined…cont. Self-awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, emotions and behaviors. “The easiest person to deceive is yourself.”

James 1:22-25 (NKJV) 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves… 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

  8. To Look We must… • Look into the mirror of the word • Objectively see our own reflection • Face ourselves to acknowledge our flaws and alleviate self deception

  9. To Examine We must examine the reflection or image that we see and decide to make necessary changes. • Search me oh God (Psalm 139:23-24) • Consider my ways (Haggai 1:7) • Turn back to the Lord (Lamentations 3:40-42)

  10. To Continue There is a blessing in continuing… We must continue: • Doing the Word; not hearing only • Studying and Reading the Word • Fasting and Praying • Working on our Walk

  11. Final Thought “You can’t continue in what you haven’t changed, you can’t change what you haven’t acknowledged, you can’t acknowledge, what you haven’t examined, and you can’t examine what you haven’t even looked for.”

In Conclusion James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Blessed - to consecrate or sanctify by a religious rite; to bestow of divine favor on; to protect or guard from evil. • “The easiest person to deceive is yourself.”
