  3. This site is a great place to gain experience in all the aspects of intercollegiate athletics. However, the turnover rate for the high positions is low. As an intern, some of best way to get noticed is to volunteer, commit, and go the extra mile. The little details will also have a great impact on the big picture. There may be slow times during the the day so being a self-starter is key. It can be frustrating at times trying to execute an idea while having to consider the fact that UTSA’s budget is scarce, compared to the larger institutions such as Texas A&M University and T.U. Inaugural football season starting in September and ideas are always welcomed. Overall, this is a decent internship site.

  6. Objectives • To learn game day productions/operations for UTSA Athletic event, such as in game promotions, music, donor activities, and ticket sales. • Coordinate and execute affair events- 2011 National Football Signing Day for the UTSA Roadrunners. • Develop strong research skills that will enable me to stay afloat with the competition and view what other institutions are implementing.

  7. Objectives Cont… • To have an understanding of the internal marketing process. This includes, but is not limited to, social media, banners, fliers, emails, word of mouth, etc. Once this objective is met, it will enable me to explore different aspects of marketing. • Effectively brainstorm marketing ideas regarding current facilities and help create a marking plan for baseball and softball. This plan will eventually serve as a guide for future interns.

  8. Daily Activities • Checked email for any activities, updates, or reminders • Create and post fliers on A-boards and General posting walls through out campus • Assist in Facebook daily post for UTSA Athletics • Run the music during softball games: national anthem, player walk-up song, and in between innings • Assist External Affairs in clerical duties

  9. Project Description • Fabricate an Event Management Manual for the UTSA football games. This will serve as the guideline for those that need assistance of the concourse, personnel contacts, and typical game day procedures. • Create an inventory list of all of the marketing/event equipment • Find a piñata manufacturer to produce 8ft piñatas. These will be hit before kick off to enhance fan interaction. 6 piñatas for each of their opponents.
