This study analyzes the percentage of prisoners testing HIV-positive in a West Java jail between 1999 and 2003, highlighting a concerning trend in HIV transmission within Indonesian jails. It reveals that the data from 2002 considers only new inmates, while previous years reflect a random sample of all inmates. The disparity indicates a possible transmission of HIV among inmates, underscoring the urgent need for public health interventions and improved health surveillance within correctional facilities.
