  5. - Sistemas de Información Geográfica ( SIG ) : Aplicación de alta tecnología en los estudios geográficos ( imágenes de satélite y amplias bases de datos geo referenciados, manejados por computadoras), lo que permite una actualización sistemática de la información, para mantener al día los mapas. Los mapas actualizados, sometidos a un análisis e interpretación integrada de los aspectos físicos y humanos, permiten llevar a cabo una Geografía Aplicada, tendiente a prevenir y resolver diversos problemas del ámbito natural y social de manera integral. No importando la corriente que sigan, todos los geógrafos están de acuerdo en que los Estudios Geográficos no están acabados sino que están en Construcción Contínua, ya que la interacción del hombre con la naturaleza es un proceso dinámico que no termina
