  3. Campaign Aim To provide information and advice to people aged 65 and over to enable them to keep well this winter

  4. Why have a campaign? • Every year in Britain 20,000 to 50,000 extra deaths occur in winter • Much worse in Wales than countries with very cold winters such as Finland and Sweden • Improving quality of life

  5. Campaign Format September to February • Events • Local leaflets • Presentations to groups • Pack distribution • Training days • New schemes • Media coverage

  7. Keep Warm • Rooms heated to 18-21c • Promotion of HEES Wales • Energy efficiency • Benefits and entitlements checks • Links in with affordable warmth strategies and HECA

  9. How are people benefiting? • Over 97% people feel they have benefited from contact with the campaign • Most benefited from gaining information • Many now applying for or receiving help • Electric blankets
