  1. Aquila Rise of the Emperor

  2. Overview – Aquila • A turn based strategy game set in Ancient Rome. • Your Goal is to become Emperor by eliminating your enemies (both external and internal threats).

  3. User Description – Aquila • The Target Audience is gamers who have played strategy games previously, however the game should be simple enough that a first timer can understand the basic concepts of strategy games quickly.

  4. User Experience – Aquila • After winning an increasing difficult opponent, John reviews the battle statistics pleased that he lost less units than he previously anticipated. He picks up on certain mistakes he could prevent from occurring as he preps his army for the next battle.

  5. Prototype – Aquila • Possible Interface Scheme (Image from Sid Meier’s Pirates!)

  6. Features – Aquila • Innovative Experience System • Units level from Recruit  Veteran  Elite with each battle, and gain a skill at each level up. • Distinctive Play Style • Choose from 3 schools of war (Range, Infantry, or Cavalry) each with its own positives and negatives.

  7. Justification – Aquila • Fun Factor: • Seeing a well laid out plan work flawlessly and being rewarded for it.

  8. User Testing – Aquila • Creating a board game where two players receive two of each unit type (Legion, Spearmen, Cavalry, Archers, and Siege) and must defeat each other.

  9. Shortcomings – Aquila • Large Scope. • Not Enough Interest in Turn Based Strategies.

  10. Expansions – Aquila • Limited ammo for ranged units, once depleted player must wait until the end of the battle for units to re-supply. • Weapon Durability for Infantry and Cavalry, when it reaches zero units lose their weapons until the end of battle.

  11. Next Step – Aquila • Refine Idea. • Creating a simple board game to implement user testing and gather feedback.
